Surgical Preparation Electrolysis
(Vaginoplasty, Phalloplasty, & Related Procedures)

Important Notice

  • We do not provide medical advice, diagnoses, or surgical clearance. All medical questions, surgical decisions, and procedural requirements should be discussed directly with your physician or surgeon.

  • We cannot guarantee surgical eligibility, surgical outcomes, or timelines. Final determination of surgical readiness is made solely by your surgeon or medical provider.

  • Many surgeons require thorough hair removal prior to certain procedures to help reduce the risk of post-surgical complications.

  • Early planning and clear communication allow us to provide the most effective treatment planning possible and avoid delays.

Communication & Planning

We encourage you to contact us before confirming a surgery date so we can review your progress and discuss whether your current treatment timeline appears on track.

If you already have a scheduled date, please notify us as soon as possible and provide:

  • Your surgery date

  • Surgeon’s name

  • Surgical method or technique (if known)

This information allows us to plan sessions appropriately and coordinate your treatment schedule with your surgical timeline.

We highly recommend checking in with us for a progress evaluation approximately 5–6 months prior to surgery. This allows time to:

    • Assess hair growth cycles

    • Adjust treatment frequency if needed

    • Identify whether additional time may be necessary

Early coordination helps reduce the likelihood of needing to postpone procedures due to inadequate hair removal.

General Preparation Timeline

Every client’s hair growth pattern, density, and response to treatment are different, so timelines are individualized. However, many surgical preparation plans follow a structure similar to this:

6 months before surgery
  • A formal assessment is performed to evaluate progress and determine whether current treatment frequency is appropriate.

1–2 months before surgery
  • Clients are typically asked to pause hair removal methods (including shaving or trimming) for approximately 4–6 weeks so we can evaluate hair growth and determine whether further treatment may be beneficial.

Your surgeon may have additional or different requirements. We always recommend following your surgeon’s instructions regarding surgical readiness.

Our Collaborative Approach

Surgical preparation works best as a cooperative process between you, your surgical team, and your electrologist. Involving us as early as possible helps us support your timeline, plan treatments efficiently, and minimize avoidable delays.
